Digital marketing is using information communication technology and internet to analyze customers’ wants and needs, and then deliver products and services to them.

There are some advantages of it.

Firstly, by using digital technology, the fast transmission of information on the internet can help companies and organizations know the change of market immediately to adjust marketing strategies and production plan in time (Ryan, 2009). For example, according to the record data of customers viewing, online shop owner of Taobao can know what popular or unpopular items are, and then they can increase or decrease inventory immediately to service customers. It can help company use capital efficiently.

What is more, digital marketing can also change the way of doing business, which can bring customer better shopping experience. For example, in the past, people need to go to the supermarket to purchase products, and then they need to stand in line to pay for them. In digital marketing world, things could be easier. For example, Korean supermarket Tesco has adopted the QR code shopping model . A supermarket just put pictures of products on bus/ train station’s wall with QR code below. People just need to use smartphone to scan QR code of products what they want and then pay by phone, and products will be packaged by supermarket and deliver to their homes. It means that supermarket could also be ran as a virtual store, and the time of waiting bus and trains could be used to do something else.
